In a tribute to Noel Davern, Cllr. Siobhan Ambrose said Fianna Fáil had lost a great stalwart of the party with his passing.

She described Noel Davern as a most loyal member of the Fianna Fáil party and said even in difficult times he never wavered in his commitment to the party. Cllr.Ambrose said his abilities really shone during his management of the State’s response to the foot and mouth crisis.

“Noel was a tireless worker and was always available to give advice when needed. In addition to his day-to-day duties as a public representative, he secured major capital funding for South Tipperary General Hospital along with much needed extensions for local schools and financial support for various projects by local clubs and organisations. He was an expert on agricultural matters as an MEP and was acknowledged as having a thorough knowledge of his brief by his fellow MEPs,” she said.

“The loss to his party and his constituency is great but, most of all, the loss to Ann-Marie, Don, Marc, Davina and to his sister Noreen is beyond words. May the green sod of Tipperary rest lightly on his kind and genial spirit,”
