A seven year-old Rathgormack girl has donated 12 inches of her beautiful hair to a charity that provides wigs for people living with hair loss.

Joanne Brunnock decided to replace her long locks with a fashionable bob and donated her cut tresses to the aptly named Rapunzel Foundation, a charitable organisation that works to improve the lives of those living with hair loss (Alopecia).

The Foundation’s Ponytail Campaign involves people committing to growing their hair 12 inches or longer with a view to their hair being used to make much needed wigs for people who have lost their hair.

As well as donating her hair, Joanne raised more than €200, which she will donate to the LauraLynn Hospice for children.

Her family thank Sinead in Artizan Hair Salon, Carrickbeg, Carrick-on-Suir for doing a great job in cutting Joanne’s hair.
