New grant scheme for housing estate revamps

Residents groups in Carrick-on-Suir can now apply for a grant to help spruce up the appearance of their estates.

Residents groups in Carrick-on-Suir can now apply for a grant to help spruce up the appearance of their estates.

Carrick-on-Suir Town Council has set up a new environmental grant scheme that is open to both local authority and private housing estates.

The purpose of the scheme is to provide residents with the opportunity to improve their own areas by planting flowers and shrubs, tidying public areas, painting and carrying out general enhancement works.

The Town Council has set aside some funding and residents groups can apply for grants to enable them to carry out the works.

Funding will be provided in the form of vouchers that can be used to purchase necessary items such as plants, tools and paint in a Carrick-on-Suir hardware store.

The works carried out will be inspected over the summer and the best groups will receive an award for their area at an awards night in September.

Any group interested in applying for an Environmental Grant, should contact Catherine Andrews or Margo Hayes in Carrick-on-Suir Town Hall at (051) 642100.
