Bookie Paddy Power teamed up with amputee Simon Baker in Dublin’s O’Connell Street last week to launch the One Step at a Time charity initiative. One-legged Simon is walking from Dublin to Limerick to raise funds for the ISPCC and Childline.

His gruelling challenge began on Monday and finishes in Limerick on this Saturday, 27th, taking in Athy, Kilkenny and Clonmel on the way. Simon reaches Clonmel today, Wednesday, 24th.

He will be welcomed to the town by some local young people and the staff of the Clonmel Park Hotel when he arrives at approximately 6pm.

Simon, who previously ran the Dublin City Marathon for charity, breaking the amputee record for the event, says “in these times of doom and gloom it’s all about having fun, and what better way to do that than to put yourself out of your comfort zone and help a really worthy cause along the way.”

Paddy Power says “Simon is a truly inspirational character, he has a hard road in front of him and I have no doubt he’ll raise a truckload of money along the way”.
