Local roads need to be included in the roads approvement plan for this year, a local councillor has said.

Cllr Michael Fitzgerald has called on the Cashel Tipperary Municipal District to include the road from Downey’s Cross to Horan’s at Cloughaleigh, Golden, to be included in the 2015 programme of re-surfacing.

Speaking at the January meeting of the Municipal Council, he also requested that the road at Clonbeg, Toureen, Aherlow, “serving Spencers and Wilkinsons and other families be included in the 2015 Programme of Surface Dressing for this Municipal District as it is in a very poor state of repair.”

A third motion called on Tipperary County Council to carry out immediate works at the entrance to Lisabyhane Boreen, Emly, as it is extremely dangerous to access this road from the Main Road.”

Management responded: “Downeys Cross to Horan’s Cloughaleigh, is known as the Cloughaleigh road L8312. It is currently scheduled for reconstruction in 2016 on the year 4 Programme which was submitted to the Department in 2013.

“It will be assessed along with other road improvement needs in the District before the March District Meeting.”
