John McGuinness, TD, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee will deliver this yearâ€™s Oration at the 92nd Annual Liam Lynch Memorial Mass in Newcastle.
Local Independent TD, Mattie McGrath and the Memorial Mass Committee invite members of the public to the Memorial Mass in Newcastle on this Sunday, 19th April.
The dayâ€™s schedule will begin at Tigh na nDaoine, Community House, Newcastle with a ceremonial raising of the Tricolour at 12.10pm by Liam Simpson, Cahir. A march will take place behind a Bagpiper from the Community House to Newcastle Church, where mass will be offered at 12.30pm by Fr. Gareth Desmond, PP.
Following Mass, refreshments will be served in the Community Hall in Newcastle which will then be followed by the Oration which this year will be delivered by Fianna Fail TD for Carlow/Kilkenny and Chair of the Public Accounts Committee in Dail Eireann, Deputy John McGuinness.
There will also be an exhibition, â€œRising for Independenceâ€ by local Artist Ted Moten Letsome featuring life-size sculptures of General Liam Lynch and others involved in the War of Independence along with memorabilia of the time.
