Presidential candidate Seán Gallagher and actress Mary McEvoy are among the guest speakers to address a Health Promotion Evening at Ballykisteen Hotel & Golf Resort, Tipperary this Wednesday, August 31.
Organised by the West Tipperary Mental Health Association and the Friends of Mount Sion Community Residence, the evening will focus on ‘Building Resilience Together’
Heading the list of speakers is Seán Gallagher, who is very well known from the RTE Dragon’s Den programme. Seán has been a judge since the first series in 2009 and has continued with the programme in 2010 and 2011. He was the co-founder of Smarthomes, Ireland’s fastest growing technology company and he has built up a successful business presence in Ireland. In May he announced his intention to contest the Presidential election as an independent candidate.
Actress Mary McEvoy is known throughout the country for having played the part of ‘Biddy’ in the RTE ‘Glenroe’ series. From 1983 through to 2000 she became one of Ireland’s best known TV actresses in the role. After leaving Glenroe she went on to feature in numerous plays including Big Maggie, Sive, The Field, The Chastitute, The Year of the Hiker and Dancing at Lughnasa. In 2009 on the RTE documentary Would You Believe she revealed that she had suffered from depression for many years.

There is no admittance charge to this part of the evening, which will be held in the Bally K Club at Ballykisteen Hotel, and will be opened at 8pm by the Tipperary Gospel Choir.
Under the baton of Margie Maxwell the choir is uplifting and inspirational to listen to, and should be the perfect start for the evening.
The presentations from the Guest Speakers will follow immediately after the choir has concluded and then there will be an Open Forum to facilitate Questions and Answers from the audience.
All are welcome to attend and to participate in this section of the programme. Light refreshments will be provided after the Open Forum has concluded.

The organisers wish to express their sincere thanks to Jimmy Buckley and his Band for giving their services free of charge for this event and all proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the West Tipperary Mental Health Association.
