Murder investigation launched into Clonmel death

Gardai in Clonmel have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man’s body in the town yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

Anthony Fallon (46) is believed to have been assaulted in the early hours of Wednesday morning. He was found in the stairwell of an apartment building on New Quay shortly before 7am yesterday.

It is understood he received a number of head injuries.

Following a postmortem examination last night, gardaí upgraded their investigation from one of suspicious death to murder.

A team of 30 officers are working on the case and have interviewed dozens of people in an effort to track down the last known movements of Mr Fallon.
