Claims made at a Carrick-on-Suir Town Council’s monthly meeting that householders paying their €100 Household Charge at South Tipperary Co. Council’s offices are being levied an extra €10 administrative charge have turned out to be wrong.

Council members had resolved at the meeting last week to send a strongly worded letter to Environment, Community & Local Government Minister Phil Hogan expressing their total “abhorrence” of the extra fee and calling for it to be abolished.

But there will be no need to do so as there is no such charge.

Carrick-on-Suir Town Council has issued a statement clarifying that a €10 charge is applicable to people who pay the Non Principal Private Residence levy at the County Council offices. The charge does not apply to people paying the Household Charge, the Council stressed.
