Householders in two towns have not had their bins collected since the County Council refuse collection service was privatised, the recent meeting of South Tipperary County Council heard.
“13 people with legitimate waivers have been left unaided” in Tipperary Town, according to one local councillor, and in Clonmel the same problem exists, another councillor reported.
Tipperary Town councillor Denis Leahy said he knew of 13 former council customers “with legitimate waivers” who have not had their bins collected since a private operator took over from South Tipperary County Council last year.
“It’s very unfair, especially in the period over Christmas when a lot of extra litter is generated. “This has gone on six to eight weeks, it’s gone on too long,” Cllr Leahy said.
Cllr Billy Shoer said that in Clonmel the same problem exists.
