Long evenings allow Tidy Towns to ‘get more done’

The Cahir Tidy Towns group had a cleanup of the Parochial Hall prior to the official opening last Friday and did a town pick during the week.

With the long evenings coming in now we will be able to get a little bit more done around the place. We acquired some top soil for Woodview and Tipp Road. We have also nearly completed refreshing the bed at the Mountain Road junction and will have a plan of action again for next Wednesday evening at 7pm.

Anyone who has hanging baskets ordered and wants more should order before the week is over as we would like to get them all hanging mid May.

We have also completed our visits to the schools and had question and answer session with students. We plan to design a ‘Bin Your Gum’ sign and a dog poo sign in the coming weeks.

Some members will attend a seminar on Tidy Towns Bio Diversity this weekend and the knowledge should help us to improve our marks.

Painting of buildings and just plain washing in some cases will be a huge benefit to the town in the coming season and we hope to do a deal on reduced paint prices with local traders.
