Tipp Fm day took place on Friday, September 24 and now that all monies are counted, a massive sum of almost €70,000 was raised - €69,221 to be exact!
This day of fundraising countywide was the Grande Finale of a whole series of fundraising events which have taken place countywide over several months. All of the events were organised in aid of sick children from County Tipperary who attend the National Children's Hospital in Crumlin. This is the third year of Tipp fm day and during these three annual events we have raised a massive €139,500. Well done Tipperary!
Tipp Fm listeners from every corner of the county did Trojan work in raising this massive sum. In addition to this the energetic team at Tipp Fm have been working flat out on this fundraising project for the past 6 months.
On Tipp Fm day, many of the Tipp Fm team visited and broadcast programmes from venues all over the county and they were amazed with the support they received from generous Tipperary people in every town and village.
During the weeks leading up to Tipp Fm Day, the number of events being organised around the county was astounding and the organisers of these many events should stand proud. From sponsored diets to sponsored walks to 'painful sponsored body waxing' live on air, to coffee mornings to cake sales to dress sales to sponsored walks – all of these added greatly to the funds raised.
Commenting on the success of Tipp Fm day, Ethel Power CEO said: "The level of support was unbelievable and once again people from Tipperary proved how amazingly generous they are. With the country in recession and everybody 'short of cash' it is really heartening to see people donating to this children's' Charity. They understand that this fundraising is for sick children from County Tipperary – and that it affects so many families in the Premier County. Sick children from Tipperary and their families, who are attending Crumlin Hospital, need every help and support they can get. The people of County Tipperary have done themselves proud, by donating a massive sum of almost €70,000 to help these children. The hardworking team at Tipp Fm, with *Carol Power as Co-ordinator, developed this idea and brought it to fruition and they are a credit to Tipp Fm and to themselves!
