Cappawhite N.S. proudly raised its fourth Green flag in June. The ceremony was attended by many parents and the Board of Management of the school.

The flag was raised by Aoife O Meara, the 2012 Pride of Tipperary and Principal Alice Flynn was delighted to welcome Aoife back to the school. “Aoife is a past pupil and Aoife’s grandmother, Mrs. Marie Buckley, is a former teacher of Cappawhite N.S. and raised the school’ s first Green flag, six years ago, so it was great to maintain this family connection with the school,” said Principal O’Meara.

Cappawhite N.S. has a proud tradition of developing environmental issues, having completed eight years of the Green School’s programme. This Green flag was based on the travel theme, whereby pupils were strongly encouraged to walk or cycle to school and pupils also participated in cycling lessons. During the ceremony, Principal Alice Flynn, commented on the long term success of the programme and thanked the pupils and parents for their increased activity levels.
