Knockanrawley Garden Group, made a very special trip to Kilmokea Gardens near New Ross A round trip of about 250kms was well rewarded by a very special garden.

A mature seven or so acres of garden, predominantly woodland garden, surrounded by a Georgian mansion in a lovely restoration over the last 16 years or so by the present owners, Mr. and Mrs. Hewlett.

Over a small road were further mature acres of woodland and ponds. Here hydrangeas of all shades of blues contrasted with mighty trees and the luxurious foliage of rubus and ferns. The group duly purchased plants and cuttings from Maurice O’Shea, the head gardener. Large bamboos and other plants were safely ensconced in the mini-bus, carefully driven by driver Margaret Looby.Sunshine and cloud, good food and cheer all contributed to a great day out.
