Toireasa, who will celebrate her 1st birthday on December 29, was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, which required surgery in Crumlin Children’s Hospital but she was unable to undergo this surgery until she gained sufficient weight.

As a result, little Toireasa spent most of this year in hospital between South Tipperary General and Crumlin as she was very ill prior to surgery.

Thankfully Toireasa had the surgery and hasn’t looked back since.

Her parents described STGH’s Paediatric Unit as a “home away from home” while Toireasa was being treated there and when they heard the unit was fundraising for a new incubator they immediately put out a collection bucket in their Spar shop in Fethard.

Tom recently presented the Unit’s Clinical Nurse Manager Olivia Butler the proceeds of their store collection, which came to €504.

Olivia Butler said on behalf of the Paediatric Unit wished to thank all the people in the area, who kindly contributed towards the incubator fund in these difficult economic times.
