A founder member of Clonmel Theatre Guild has died.

Along with her late husband Brendan, the former Editor of The Nationalist, Ina Long (nee Kelly) was one of the founders in 1969 of Clonmel Theatre Guild, which is still thriving and presenting shows.

Ina (nee Kelly) was manager of the Guild for many years and was also a talented actress, playing many leading roles in their productions.

She was originally from Ballinasloe and also worked for a time in the Sporting Press in Clonmel. She and Brendan and their daughter Anne lived in Queen Street and she was actively involved in the local community, serving with the Citizens Information Centre.

In recent years, following Brendan’s death seven years ago she moved to Naas to live with her daughter Anne and her family. She died in Nass last Saturday.

Ina’s friends in Clonmel deeply mourn the passing of a lovely lady but the biggest loss will be to daughter, Anne (Delaney), son-in-law Eugene, grandchildren, Cillian and Claudia, her sister Rita and extended family.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated at Ss Peter and Paul’s Church, Clonmel at 1pm today (Wednesday), followed by burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Clonmel.
