South Tipperary Fine Gael TD Tom Hayes has insisted that no decision has been made on the future of Cluain Arann Welfare Home in Tipperary town

Deputy Hayes has been lobbying department officials for its retention following increased speculation that a number of public nursing homes are to close in 2012.

“I want to reassure both residents and their families that absolutely no decision has been made regarding Cluain Arann and its future. I understand that this is a topic of great concern to them, as it is to me. Having fought on this issue in the past and been successful, I hope to be able to do the same again.

“I am in regular consultation with both the HSE and the Minister for Health, Dr. James Reilly, on this matter and am not only relaying my own concerns but those of the residents and staff at the home. Cluain Arann provides a fantastic service to the people of west Tipperary, my priority is to make sure that this service continues,” said Deputy Hayes.
