At the 10th Tipperary Scouts annual investiture and awards night over 30 new Beavers, Cubs and Scouts were invested and welcomed into Scouting Ireland.
The event was also a celebration of the year gone and a chance to recognise the achievements of the young members. Parents, guardians and family members watched as each new Beaver, Cub and scout were called forward to make their scout promise, joining the scouting family for what is hoped to be many very happy years of scouting activities.
In the cubs, Eoin Delaney was named winner of the dress and drill Award (for best dressed cub) with Ali Ryan runner-up. Best Six went to the Bears with Kate O’Connor (sixer), Benjamin Hannigan (seconder), and Katie Coffee, Ella Cummins and Aoife Dwyer all receiving their award on the night. Clara Cummins was named Best New Cub while Katie Kinane won Cub of the Year with Rachael McCormack runner-up. In the scouts, Philip Crowe won scout of the year with Michael Jenkins winning the award for dress and drill. Well done to all the winners on the night. 2013 has been a very exciting year for 10th Tipperary Scouts, who moved into their new scout hall in September, and with numbers of new members as high as they are 2014 looks like it will be a busy year.
