Gardai have appealed for the public to help them solve the vicious robbery of a 50 year-old woman in Clonmel town centre.
The woman was beaten and robbed by two youths at William Street at 6.30am on Thursday, April 19.
She was waiting for a lift to work when the two youths accosted her.
The woman was punched in the face, knocked to the ground, beaten and robbed. The robbers escaped on foot with her purse containing a small quantity of cash.
Gda. Insp. Kevin Bowen, who is investigating the case, said the woman received medical treatment following the attack and is recovering but is very traumatised and upset.
He said one of the robbers has been described as tall and the other was small with red hair.
The inspector urged anyone in the vicinity of William Street around 6.30 on Thursday, April 19 or who may have witnessed the youths or observed suspicious activity in the area to contact Clonmel Garda Station at (052) 6122222.
“I am making a very strong appeal to anyone in the area that morning. If they saw anything, no matter how insignificant they feel it may be, it would be our missing link to bringing them to justice,” he told The Nationalist.
