The family of a 6 year-old child battling leukaemia have organised a fundraiser this weekend for an organisation that offers practical support to the families of children
diagnosed with cancer.
The Aoibheann’s Pink Tie family fun day takes place at Cloneen Sports Hall between 1 and 5pm next Sunday, December 7.
It has been organised by Tricia Doyle and Mick O’Brien from Cloneen, the parents of 6 year-old Bianca O’Brien, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukaemia last March.
“Bianca is now moving onto 22 months of maintenance after 8 months of intense treatment”, says her father Mick. “Her cancer is in remission but we know there’s a long battle ahead. Our aim is to raise funds for this charity, Aoibheann’s Pink Tie, which is a rock for everyone that needs it, and also bring a community together for Christmas and let the local kids have a day to remember”, he says.
Santa will arrive in Cloneen at 1.30 and the event will also include bric a brac, face painting, live music and a bouncy castle.
