Labour Party elects all-county
constituency executive

The inaugural AGM of the County Tipperary Constituency Council of the Labour Party was held recently. The meeting was attended by 63 delegates including Minister Alan Kelly, Phil Prendergast MEP, and Senator Denis Landy along with Town and County councillors.

The inaugural AGM of the County Tipperary Constituency Council of the Labour Party was held recently. The meeting was attended by 63 delegates including Minister Alan Kelly, Phil Prendergast MEP, and Senator Denis Landy along with Town and County councillors.

The elected officers on the night were nominated by members of the party and the officerships were distributed evenly to both former constituencies. Chair of the AGM was Brian McDowell, National Organiser for the Labour Party.

The members expressed their confidence in their local representatives, while pointing out quite clearly that they expected a change in direction at the top of the party

Officers for the new Tipperary labour Branch were nominated by members of both former branches.

Elected were -Chairperson, Liam Hayes; Vice Chairperson Liam Gleeson; Secretary, Tara Moriarty; Assistant Secretary, Michelle Cooney; Treasurers. Paddy Tiernan and Darren Hogan; Youth Officers, Sarah Dunne and Michael O’Connor; Women’s Officer, Noreen Kennedy; and Equality Officer, John Whelan. .
