On Saturday, September 7, the sisters at Cahir’s Mercy Convent and the people of the town, will celebrate 150 years of their presence in the town.

A great and solemn Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated at 12.30pm in St. Mary’s Church on Saturday. After mass everyone is welcome to walk up the ‘covered walk’ to the convent for light refreshments, to visit the gardens and the old convent cemetery.

Prior to the mass a special video presentation will be screened in the church at 12noon.

Visitors will also be able to visit and enjoy some the major rooms in the convent, maybe for the first time! You are invited to see the beautiful Nuns’ Chapel, the choir and the lay chapel. The video presentation will also be running throughout the evening in the chapel. Many very interesting historic items will be on display.

The sisters look forward to seeing everyone.
