The Irish Cancer Society will hold a free conference for cancer survivors on Friday and Saturday, September 20 and 21, at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin which representatives from CARE Cancer Support Centre Clonmel, Suaimhneas Cancer Support Centre Nenagh and Suir Haven Cancer Support Centre Thurles will attend. The conference, entitled Living Well with Cancer, is in its 20th year and aims to address the needs of cancer survivors across the country.
The transition from cancer patient to cancer survivor can be difficult for those on a cancer journey. While many people adapt well, others experience problems in adjusting to life after a cancer diagnosis. Access to information and support to deal with issues such as fear of the cancer coming back, financial strain and long term side effects of treatment is vital. Up to 800 survivors are expected to attend.
