Tipperary native Colette
Fitzpatrick says she is “thrilled” with her new morning show on Newstalk 106-108 FM.

The Colette Fitzpatrick Show, which started on Sunday last, is live every Sunday from 9am-10am.

The TV3 news anchor, who “cut her journalistic teeth” with East Coast Radio (now East Coast FM) in Co. Wicklow, had been looking for a way to get back into radio for the past couple of years.

Colette previously worked on the breakfast show and in the newsroom with Today FM, before making the leap to the small screen with TV3 in 2001, anchoring daily news bulletins from the Ballymount station.

“I love radio so much and have been doing a bit of filling in on Jonathan Healy’s lunchtime show, so I’m thrilled the opportunity for my own show came about with Newstalk,” she tells The Nationalist.

The mum of Milo (5) and Olivia (3) says her “magazine style” show has a mixture of everything and is a “perfect complement” to her other journalistic endeavours.

“The show gives women a platform to discuss issues that are important to us. You can expect plenty of interviews with news and opinion makers, and a run out to stories that weren’t given coverage in the coming shows.

“There will also be a section on entertainment and what’s coming up over the weekend, so it makes for an engaging hour of entertainment which I hope will be a great addition to viewers Sunday morning’s”.

The DIT Aungier Street Journalism graduate is also confident that she will be able to balance work and family commitments: “It’s only an hour a week so it won’t interrupt my work with TV3. I’ll still have Saturdays free and the rest of Sunday.

“They’re lazy bones in my house anyway so they’ll only be getting out of bed by the time I’m home at 11,” the mum-of-two adds.
