A crowd of several hundred defied constant rain to march through the streets of Clonmel on Saturday to protest at the threatened closure of the town’s Kickham Barracks.

A crowd of several hundred defied constant rain to march through the streets of Clonmel on Saturday to protest at the threatened closure of the town’s Kickham Barracks.

The march made its way from Irishtown to Parnell Street where marchers were addressed by a number of speakers.

Defence Minister Alan Shatter also met a deputation protesting at the proposed closure last Thursday.
