Following news of the death of Josef Pavelka in Ennis, Phil Prendergast MEP has called for more support for those living on the margins.
“I find it impossibly sad that any person could die in these circumstances.
“When Mr. Pavelka’s case came to light, people helped him as best they could, but ultimately, we need to do more to protect people on the margins.”
“We need adequate support systems for addiction and stable living conditions for those who are suffering on the margins.
“Their voices are entirely unheard in society and that situation cannot continue into the future.”
“I am calling on government to ensure that more funding is made available to charities and support organisations who can then be equipped to aid additional people on the streets.”
