Galtee Walking Club Challenge

Sheila Lenihan from the Galtee Walking Club with friends who successfully completed the Galtee Crossing - a 31km of the Galtee range from Cahir to Anglesborough
Over 130 people did the Galtee Walking Club Challenge recently. This event covered the entire 31km of the Galtee range from Cahir to Anglesborough, taking in all the major peaks from Grennane, through Galty Mor and finishing with Temple Hill. Walkers from all over the country and from all ages and gender were out on the hills above Cahir before 9am. Dry and mild to start with, the going got rough from the halfway point around Farbreaga and the climb of Galtymore was a wet and windy experience. Help was however at hand to take people down along the way and some few availed of this where necessary. But the sun shone for the last hour or so of the trek.

Walkers were signed off by Ann and helpers and awarded certificates by Breda Ryan. A celebratory dinner was held at Ballinacourty House.Well done all and thanks especially to the organizers, the Ryan family, sweepers, Rody & Thos, Ann and the base camp crew, the radio people, Noel Brown’s busses, tent helpers and points people and all those who provided backup support.

A most successful event for the club on this it’s 10th anniversary.
