Garda warn public not to approach would-be burglar

A search is ongoing in the Grangemockler area, this morning (Thursday), following an attempted robbery at a home in the area last night.

A search is ongoing in the Grangemockler area, this morning (Thursday), following an attempted robbery at a home in the area last night.

Gardai in Clonmel are spearheading the search and have warned members of the public not to approach a man who fled the scene, in the early hours of Thursday morning.

According to investigating gardai two men attempted to burglarise a family home in the Grangemockler area but were interrupted by the residents when they woke up.

Nothing was taken in the robbery and none of the residents of the house were injured.

Gardai told The Nationalist that one man was apprehended at the scene and is currently in custody in relation to the incident however a second man fled into surrounding fields and they are searching for him this morning.

The missing man has a cut to his head. Gardai are warning members of the public not to approach him if they see him but to ring the local garda station in Clonmel on 05222222.
