Landy’s live radio debate call to Hayes

Labour Senator Denis Landy has invited Deputy Tom Hayes, Minister for State at the Department of Agriculture, to a live radio debate with him on the future of Seanad Eireann.

Labour Senator Denis Landy has invited Deputy Tom Hayes, Minister for State at the Department of Agriculture, to a live radio debate with him on the future of Seanad Eireann.

Senator Landy has written to Minister Hayes on the issue suggesting that the debate take place on live local radio at a time suitable to Minister Hayes.

The Carrick On Suir based Senator believes this would provide an excellent opportunity to allow the electorate to hear both sides of the debate and hopes that Minister Hayes will accept the invitation in the spirit it is intended.

“This would allow an open and respectful discussion on whether the Irish people should reform and retain the Senate or abolish this important pillar of our democratic system,” said Senator Landy
