The Cashel Chamber of Commerce has broadly welcomed the Town Council’s decision to allow for free Saturday afternoon parking during the months of November and December.
”This is a very positive step in helping Cashel remain competitive” said Chamber President Sean Laffey and he added “We realise that parking charges do go towards funding many council services, but when they are too high they become self defeating.
Regular parking charges in Cashel are over 140% more expensive than Clonmel for example, so this waiving of Saturday parking charges for the final two months of the year will be warmly welcomed by the struggling Cashel retail sector. It should also help to breath more life into town and allow people to enjoy the centre once again. We would hope that Cafes. Restaurants and Pubs will also feel a benefit as this measure will allow for the town to become a more sociable place. We would also hope that Cashel’s entrepreneurs will make the most of this opportunity and.”
