The first ever smartphone walking app, in both Irish and English, to guide visitors along the Nire Valley walking trails in the Comeragh Mountains will be launched at the Nire Valley Car Park by RTÉ radio broadcaster John Murray on Saturday morning.

Mr Murray will lead a two hour guided walk to The Gap, which will commence from the car park at 12 noon. It will be followed by refreshments at Ballymacarbry Community Centre.

The app will be available to download onto smartphone from mid-July and will act as a virtual guide for the thousands of tourists, who visit the Comeragh Mountains, helping them navigate the many scenic Nire Valley walking trails and learn about the rich history and culture of the area at the same time.
