The County Council has informed TD, Minister of State Dr. Martin Mansergh that agreement has now been reached with the Gardaí and Bus Éireann on the location of bus stops for the Waterford – Limerick service in Monard.

"The bus stops will be provided in tandem with resurfacing of the main road in the middle of next year," said Minister Mansergh. "This will bring to a successful conclusion a long-running demand that Waterford-Limerick buses should stop in Monard, particularly given the growth in population in recent years."

While an extra bus stop was provided a few years ago on the west side of Tipperary town (Limerick Road), following representations from Minister Mansergh and others, about a year ago the regional management of Bus Eireann in Limerick informed him that they had come to a positive decision on the case for a stop in Monard. "Public transport is vitally important for both younger and older people, particularly those who do not drive, and the people of Monard will now have a regular service to and from Limerick and Tipperary, without having to rely on somebody to drive them to the nearest bus stop some distance away. " said the Minister.
