The outcome of the World Cheese Awards 2010 has the Cashel Blue team beaming from ear to ear this week.

J&LGrubb Ltd's two cheeses have come up trumps at the prestigious awards with the sheep's milk Crozier Blue scooping a Gold in the Specialist Cheesmakers Association Class and the cow's milk Cashel Blue proudly taking home Gold, for the second year in a row, in the International blue foil wrapped category.

Judges from 29 different countries, including Dubliner Grainne Walley of the Traditional Cheese Company, judged 2,629 cheeses for the World Cheese Awards.

The awards were hosted by the BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham last week.

J & L Grubb Ltd were in attendance at the event and provided samples of Cashel and Crozier Blue to more than 40,000 people over the five days as part of the Failte Ireland stand.

Sarah Furno (ne Grubb) of J&L Grubb said: "Consistency at this level of competition drives the passion and commitment of the team at Beechmount Farm.

"It is very exciting to see Cashel Blue winning Gold in both 2009 and 2010, and the Crozier Blue win is of specific note as it was judged within the new speciality open class for cheeses with a low volume of production.

To celebrate the occasion Sarah and Sergio Furno, cheese maturers at J&L Grubb Ltd, are giving away 10 Christmas Hampers.

The hampers will include not only Cashel and Crozier Blue but also Wicklow Farmhouse Cheese 'Wicklow Baun' also a Gold winner in the WCA 2010.
