CONGRATS:

Congratulations to Mairn McGrath, Mollough, Newcastle, finalist in the Londis 'Write Up My Street' short story competition. The "Write Up My Street" book is a collection of stories from young people all over Ireland. This is an initiative undertaken by Londis, in conjunction with Barnardos Childrens Charity, who receive all proceeds from the sale of the book.

Mairn's winning story, about Newcastle, was one of only 30 stories published out of over 6,000 entries. The book was launched in the National Library, Dublin where 'Jedward' presented the winners with their prizes and posed for photos with each finalist. They also provided some wonderful entertainment on the day. Mairn had a brilliant time, the highlights being having her story published, meeting Jedward and having her photo taken with them.

Not only did Mairn write a lovely story about Newcastle Community, but she is an active member of Newcastle Community Alert and Tidy Towns as well as being involved with the local G.A.A., Badminton and Cheili Club, etc.

Mairn is daughter of Margaret and Mattie, and was attending Newcastle N.S. when she entered the competition through McCarras Londis Store in Newcastle. She is now a pupil of Presentation Secondary School, Clonmel.

Congratulations also, to Newcastle National School, who received a voucher for E250 as a result of Mairin's success.

McCarras Londis Newcastle are the only store in the country to have two winners, as Clodagh

Kelly, Ballymacarbry N.S. was a Category Winner with "A Rhyming Rap for Ballymac".

The book is available to purchase at McCarras Londis Newcastle or any Londis Store.
