CREDIT UNION AGM:
Mitchelstown Credit Union AGM will take place in the Firgrove Hotel on Thursday December 16 at 7. 45pm Elections will be held to fill the following vacancies 5 vacancies on the Board of Management, 1 vacancy on the Supervisory Committee. The position of Auditor. Nominations for the positions
of Directors, Supervisors, and Auditor must be in writing, signed by as proposer and seconder (who must be members of the Credit Union) and also by the person nominated, so as to indicate his/her consent. Nominations must reach the Hon Secretary at the Credit Unions Registered Office at least 3 days before the date of teh meeting. All those nominated (other than the position of Auditor) must be members of the Credit Union and have reached the age of 18 years.

LADIES FOOTBALL SIDE LOSE OUT:
Mitchelstown Under 21 Ladies Football side lost out to Banteer in a high scoring Co final at Mallow on Friday night. Mitchelstown did well in the opening half and held a goal lead at the break 3-3 to 2-3. Banteer dominated on the change over getting on top in the half back line and midfield sectors ensuring their forwards regular supply They struck for some well taken goals six in all during this half to emerge deserving winners in the end by 8- 9 to 3-7. The Duhallow side defended very well holding Mitchelstown to a mere 4 points.

THE LATE JOHN JOE CASEY:
The death occurred on November 30th at Cork University Hospital of one of the oldest residents in the Mitchelstown parish. The late John Joe Casey, Gortroe, was in his 92nd year. A very quiet spoken man he was an extensive farmer and a regular many fairs in years gone by and more recently at Marts in the region up to quiet recently. In his younger days he was involved in Macra na Feirme and other farming organisations. He was a life long member of the P. T A A. His popularity was borne out in the very large and represented attendance that attended at the family home on Thursday and also at the Requiem Mass in Kilacluig Church on Friday. Interment took place to the New Cemetery Mitchelstown. To his wife Mary son Jim, daughters Eileen and Maureen, daughter in law Irene, son in law Robert, sister in law Lizzie Hanley, relatives, neighbours and many friends we tender our sincere sympathy.

The death occurred on December 2nd at St Patrick's Community Hospital Fermoy of Patrick Fleming Broomhill Mitchelstown. The late Patrick in his early 60s had been in ill health for a while. He was very well known locally. His popularity was borne out in the large and represented attendance at the removal on Friday night from O'Brien's Funeral Mitchelstown to the Parish Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Saturday.
Interment took place to the adjoining cemetery.
To his wife Mary daughter Vanessa grandchild Hannah, sister Nuala O'Leary, brother in law Denis, aunts Kit Crotty and Josie Curtis, aunt in law Grace, nephew, niece, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends we tender our sincere sympathy..
On Friday night Mitchelstown Street Lights were switched on. The huge Christmas tree sparkled on the snow covered ground in New Square. The boys and girls of CBS and Presentation Convent under the guidance of Principal Mary O'Callaghan enthralled the hundreds of children and their parents with their carol singing.
Ten year old Tara and six year old Leanne Quirke pressed the switch to light up the tree and herald the arrival of Santa Claus who swapped his reindeers for the local Fire Brigade. Canon Tim O'Leary blessed the tree and wished everybody a holy and happy Christmas.
