Christmas Party: The date for our Christmas party is this Sunday 12th December commencing with Mass at 4pm followed by dinner, music and craic. This party involves a lot of hard work. If you would like to be involved in this annual celebration of our senior people, please give your name to any member of the Parish Council. There is a work night in the hall this Thursday evening at 7.30pm. On that night, we hope to get the hall ready and decorated for the party.
Sr. Placida (Mel Barry) celebrated the Golden Jubilee of her Profession at Presentation Convent, Youghal, recently. Sr. Placida has worked for the Lord all over the world in teaching, leadership programmes and many other apostolates. As a parish, we can be very proud of one of our own, who has carried the torch of faith to the ends of the earth. Sr. Placida is inspiring, enriching and uplifting as a person. We thank her for her faithful witness. We congratulate her on reaching this milestone and we wish her every happiness, joy and good health for many years to come.
Death of Margaret Maher, Thurlesbeg East, Cashel:
On Tuesday, 23rd November 2010, the death too place unexpectedly at St. Anne's Nursing Home, Cashel of Ms. Peg Maher, Thurlesbeg East, Boherlahan. She had been a patient at St Anne's for some considerable time. On Wednesday 24th November, her remains were taken to Boherlahan Church from Lonergans Funeral Home and next day she was laid to rest in Ballysheehan Cemetery, just a stones throw from her home. Peg was a woman of great Christian faith and, late or early, she would always attend Mass and other Church services.
Her only brother Patrick, who might be described as the last of the 'old timers' will miss her greatly.
Peg was a member of one of the oldest families in our parish and their home will be remembered by locals as the last of the 'Station Mass' houses in Thurlesbeg East.
We express our deepest sympathy to Patrick, to all her cousins, relatives and friends. May she Rest in Peace.
Sympathy is extended to Philip Bargary and family, Ballyroe on the death of Philip's father, Johnny Bargary, Golden. May he Rest in Peace.
