Free recycling for electrical items this Saturday

WEEE Ireland, the Irish compliance scheme for electrical and battery recycling, is holding two free recycling events in Tipperary this Saturday, August 31.

WEEE Ireland, the Irish compliance scheme for electrical and battery recycling, is holding two free recycling events in Tipperary this Saturday, August 31.

The collection events in association with South Tipperary County Council will take place from 10am – 4pm at the following locations:

Fethard Public Car Park, Fethard

Fair Green Car Park, Carrick On Suir

Free WEEE Ireland events allow people to get rid of any household electrical equipment and batteries in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

·  Almost 9kg of WEEE recycled by each person in Tipperary in 2012 – (EU recycling target is 4kg per person)

·  10% of Tipperary people hoard e-waste at home

·  The average consumer in Tipperary has over 110 batteries in their home

·  1 in 5 batteries in Tipperary are put in general waste

· 10% of people in Tipperary put their e-waste in general waste bins

Anything in the home with a battery or a plug can be recycled at these collections.
