Residents groups fearing the Grid Link power line will destroy the unspoilt landscape of the Comeragh Mountains if it’s located through this region, are appealing for a large turnout of people from Carrick-on-Suir and surrounding communities to a protest walk to the Mahon Falls this Saturday.

The “anti-pylon” protest walk will be led by Carrick-on-Suir cycling legend Sean Kelly and will depart from the car park at the top of Crough Wood at 1pm, The 1.5 mile long walk is being organised by the Comeraghs Rathgormack K9 Pylon Prevention Group and Comeraghs Against Pylons Group to show Eirgrid the strength of public opposition to the power line being located in the Comeragh Mountains region. The K9 corridor option being considered by Eirgrid goes from Mahon Bridge to communities near Rathgormack, Carrick-on-Suir and onto Piltown.
