Cahir Social & Historical Society is delighted to welcome Dr. Kieran Hickey back to his home town of to present a lecture entitled ‘Irelands Extraordinary Weather: Past, Present and Future’ in Cahir Castle on Thursday, April 3.
Kieran was born in Church Street and attended secondary school at St. Joseph’s College in Cahir after which he got a BA and an MA degree from UCC and a doctoral degree from Coventry University. He has worked in Armagh Observatory and the Coastal Resources Centre in UCC along with a lectureship post in National University of Ireland at Maynooth. He is currently working as a lecturer in Physical Geography at NUI Galway. His main interests are storms and hurricanes, climate change, historical climatology, natural disasters and natural history. Kieran has an extensive media profile in relation to his work on climate change and natural disasters. This will be an interesting lecture and all are welcome.
