West U12 B Hurling Final Replay Cashel KC 2-7 Kickams 2-3
An U12 hurling double was clinched in Golden on Wednesday night, when a superb Cashel display saw the “B” title added to the already successful “A” title. The entire panel of players were fantastic on the night with Ross Whelan outstanding in goal, his defence of Michael O’Meara, David Ryan, Gabriel Pereira and Cian Moloney were solid and disciplined all through. The midfield engine room of Conor O’Dwyer and Jack Hayes were busy and ensured a plentiful supply of ball to the forwards while combing to score 1-1 between them. In attack Daniel Moloney’s contribution of 1-5 says it all, while Jack McGrath whose match saving point in the drawn game, worked his socks off along with Jake Cotter and Evan Hynes who had brilliant games. A big mention to Eoghan Murphy and Aaron Breen who came on and played huge roles in the course of the game. Captain Michael O’Meara accepted the trophy on his team’s behalf and deservedly so, well done to everyone involved.
U12 County Hurling
Following on from our success in the West division, all three of our U12 teams travelled to Littleton on Saturday last to compete in the Premier Games Quarter Finals. We began with our third string into action against Durlas Og. Cashel tried in vain to snatch a late leveller but Durlas Og closed out the game with a late goal to defeat Cashel 1-2 to 0-1.
Our “B” team fresh from their West success were next into action also taking on Durlas Og. This panel can be very proud of their tremendous efforts and maybe the exertions of recent games took its toll. Well-done lads.
All hopes now rested on our “A” side as they were pitted against home side Moycarkey Borris. Cashel pointed to close out the win, 1-8 to 1-2.
To round a very busy weekend of activity Cork club Kiltha Og popped into Leahy Park on their way to Croker. They brought two teams and we played two U.10 challenges.
