"How quickly the time flies around, it's mid-January already and the AGM of the St. Patrick's Day Parade is upon us," says Sean Laffey the current chairman of the event.
The AGM has been provisionally booked for Tuesday, January 18, at 7:30pm in Mikey Ryan's, any changes to the date venue or time will be posted on www. cashel.ie and members can ask for clarification by sending a text to (087)9821816.
Sean says that 2011 could be a difficult time for many families in Cashel and the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade is one bright spot in the spring calendar. With the possibility of a general election looming, the bank crisis and NAMA there's no end of material for satirical floats and wry comments on Ireland today.
The parade needs as many volunteers as possible, both before and during the event. Very soon the round of church gate collections will be taking place and Sean says "we are delighted by the on-going support from the community and to the small number of volunteers who turn up before first light on those winter mornings to help raise a few Euro for the Parade".
The parade will take place on St. Patrick's Day which this year falls on Thursday the 17th of March.
