Free recycling for electrical items and batteries

WEEE Ireland, the Irish compliance scheme for electrical and battery recycling, is holding a free recycling event in Tipperary on August 17.

The collection event in association with South Tipperary County Council will take place from 10am – 4pm at Tesco Car Park, Tipperary Town

Free WEEE Ireland events allow people to get rid of any household electrical equipment and batteries in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

Almost 9kg of WEEE recycled by each person in Tipperary in 2012 – (EU recycling target is 4kg per person); 10% of Tipperary people hoard e-waste at home; the average consumer in Tipperary has over 110 batteries in their home; onein 5 batteries in Tipperary are put in general waste; and 10% of people in Tipperary put their e-waste in general waste bins

Anything in the home with a battery or a plug can be recycled at these collections. Waste collection specialists from WEEE Ireland will be there on the day to help you send your toasters, vacuum cleaners, fridges and every other electrical item imaginable to a better place.
