This coming weekend is Cahir Tidy Towns annual Church Gate Collection and all those involved appreciate all donations.
As per every year Cahir Tidy Towns relies on the annual collection to purchase paints, sprays and other bits and pieces that are needed as the year goes on. All monies raised go directly back into the town to help raise its beauty and national Tidy Towns competition marks.
Last year Cahir Tidy Towns had an unprecedented €1,100 collected that was spent wisely.
Members who can stand at the Church Gate please give names to the Chairman so that they can draw up a rota.
The ruins in the Market yard behind the Enterprise Center will become the base for Cahir Tidy Towns and they intend to tidy this building and paint it before the summer ends. This will be an important base to conduct odd jobs that can be done during the winter.
The only thing growing recently seems to be the weeds so Cahir Tidy Towns are busy weeding and are also asking people to enter the Local Tidy Towns Competition which closes on Monday, August 13. There are five categories to enter for €5. Results will be announced at our awards night in September. The judging of graveyards will commence this week and run until mid August so we need to be on our guard in the cemeteries. We also need to keep an eye out for the South Tipp Environmental Competition which will run until the end of August.
So it still all systems go in Cahir Tidy Towns and meet as per usual on Wednesday evening at 7pm.
