Tesco is backing the Clonmel Lions Club in their appeal to the public to help people in need on the run-in to Christmas by supporting the Lions Club National Food Appeal.

The collections will take place this Friday, November 29 from 11am to 7pm and on Saturday, November 30, from 11am until 7pm in Tesco stores across the country. All food collected locally will be distributed in the Clonmel area. According to a report published last year, 1 in 10 people in Ireland were living in food poverty.

Noeline Bergin, president of Clonmel Lions Club said “Lions clubs throughout Ireland have been making an annual food appeal for many years and the needs of families are now greater than ever”. Requests for support and donations can be submitted to the Lions Club via a special collection point in the Town Hall in Parnell Street.
