Cashel Lions Club had the honour of entertaining Senior Citizens from the town and surrounding districts at their annual Seniors Party in Halla Na Feile on Sunday last.
In fact this was the last event to be held in the Halla before contractors move in to renovate the front facade and admin areas – we look forward to seeing the ‘new look’ Halla!
The Lions did a fantastic job putting together the elements of a really enjoyable afternoon for 165 guests. There was no charge for those attending. The hall looked lovely, the new ‘Lions Club’ banner looked fine, the food (prepared by our good friends at Rockwell College) was wonderful, the music very kindly provided by Ger Slattery and his group was great - bringing dancers out on to the floor. The secret recipe ‘punch’ was in such great demand that it actually ran out early, however there were loads of spot prizes and all enjoyed the afternoon.
A highlight of the day was a presentation to departing Dean of Cashel, Rev. Philip Knowles. Lion Club President Paul Monks mentioned the affection and esteem with which the Dean is regarded and held in and around the town. His departure will be a real loss to the community.
