Get ready for a weekend of fun at the annual Rosegreen Festival!
This evening Wednesday, July 29, the Road Bowling Club, which was only set up last winter, will hold their first open tournament, commencing from the bog cross on the Fethard Road at 7pm.
On Thursday, July 30, at 7pm in the community playing field, a novelty hurling match will take place between Ballydoyle Racing and Rosegreen for the Tony Cahill Memorial Cup.
On Friday, July 31, again at 7pm there will be an 8 km Fun Run/Walk, from the village to Tullamaine cross and back (registration at the Community Hall from 6.30p.m.)
On Saturday, August 1, the Festival Mass will be held, with the queens’ reception afterwards in the community hall.
Sunday, August 2, is the big day of the festival with the Field Day starting at 1.30pm. The time honoured event which has been in existence for nearly as long as the famous stables across the road, has never lost it’s appeal with lots of fun for all the family. Special attractions on the day will include the guided bus tours to Ballydoyle Stables, hurling and camogie blitz, athletics, wheel of fortune, dog show, bouncing castles, sumo wrestlers, bottle stall and monster auction (which includes twenty five trailers of firewood).
The curtain comes down on the festival on Sunday night the interviews with the Queen of the Green participants on stage commencing at 9.30pm followed by a night of dancing with music by the Doran Family. The new queen will be announced at midnight.
