Three successive victories since last month have qualified the Loreto Secondary School Senior Football team for the Munster Final.
After an excellent away victory against Colaiste Cholm, Ballincollig, Co.Cork in the group stages, the Clonmel team earned their place in the Munster quarter final.
This game was played on November 17, when they travelled to Rathcormac, Co.Cork to play a highly-fancied Sacred Heart team. It was clear from the beginning that Loreto were in determined mood and throughout the game this attitude proved the difference between the teams.
The semi-final took place in Boher in Limerick, when Loreto proved far too strong and ran out comfortable winners. The forwards were in devastating form with Sarah Ryan scoring four goals but she was ably assisted in attack by Niamh Brennan, Megan Shanahan, Anna Carey, Lauren Guiry and Evrena Everard, who all scored freely. Loreto were always in control and the defence was rock solid with notable performances from Hazel Shanahan and Aoife Power. The final score was 7–11 to 0–1 and Loreto now await the winners of the other semi-final when they contest the Munster Final in mid- January.
The team is congratulated on a series of outstanding performances and is wished the best of luck in the Munster Final.
