Enterprising Carrick-on-Suir students in All Ireland final

A team of enterprising students from Carrick-on-Suir CBS Secondary School are competing in the All Ireland final of the Student Enterprise Awards in Croke Park this week.

A team of enterprising students from Carrick-on-Suir CBS Secondary School are competing in the All Ireland final of the Student Enterprise Awards in Croke Park this week.

The hand made soap business called “An Gallúnach”, run by CBS students Cathal Purcell and Conor Power, achieved first place in the Intermediate category at the recent South Tipperary Student Enterprise Awards and will be going up agains the best student companies in the country at the national final on Wednesday, April 18.

Cathal and Conor worked together every day from the beginning of the school year on their successful business venture and now plan expanding into liquid soap.

“The judges (at the South Tipperary final) liked our business report, the Irish title and they reported our ‘quality of product’ as excellent,” said the two students.

Cathal and Conor said they were grateful for the help and guidance they received from Sue Anne O’Donnell, Student Enterprise Coordinator with the South Tipperary Enterprise Board and the support of teacher Majella Gleeson.

An Gallúnach” was one of nine CBS mini-companies that beat off competition from 44 teams to win awards at the South Tipperary Student Enterprise Awards.
