Landscape photographer Peter O’Donnell from Clonmel has scooped the Irish Professional Photographers (IPPA’s) most prestigious award at the organisation’s National Awards ceremony at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin last Sunday night.

Peter’s sublime riverbank images achieved him best Landscape Single Image Award, Best Landscape Portfolio Award and the overall coveted award of Professional Photographer of the Year. The images were selected by a panel of international judges from over 2,000 entries across 17 categories. Peter’s winning images were considered to be extremely creative photographic art pieces that show true originality and skill.

This is the second time in three years that the son of Peter and Bridget O’Donnell, Clerihan, has achieved the highest photographic award in the country.

“I am absolutely thrilled and stunned”, said Peter. “I walk along the riverbank in Castleconnell (Co.Limerick) as often as I can and knew there was a body of work to be made from it; this panel is a culmination of two years work”.

Peter’s landscape photography is well renowned on a global level and since January, due to popular demand, he has expanded his website to include detailed step-by-step tutorials on landscape photography.

“The tutorials allow people who can’t travel to my one to one workshops to have a means to experience and learn all involved in achieving high quality landscape images for themselves”, he said.
