The new Burgess Group Water Scheme treatment plant had an open day, in recent weeks, following a E120,000 investment in the scheme.
The Group Water Scheme was instigated by the late Paddy Slattery and others 39 years ago. However due to European regulations a treatment plant had to be put in place. This was made possible by a grant from South Tipperary County Council.
The total cost of the plant was E120,000.
Matty Hyland was one of the original group members who dug part of the scheme with pick and shovel and also in our photograph is Judy Butler, another original member.
This is the first half of the project the second begins in the new year with the installation of water meters for the 120 member group.
